Located at the base of a two-storey wooden building at a busy intersection, the one-metre-deep kiosk was formerly a Bento stand serving nearby workers before being transformed into a coffee stand for confectionary company Suetomi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1330\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com\/media.notesbook.vn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/26203203\/1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9233\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1330\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.ap-northeast-1.amazonaws.com\/media.notesbook.vn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/26203203\/1.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9233\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the kiosk&#8217;s proximity to Suetomi&#8217;s flagship Kyoto store, G Architects Studio chose the blue-green copper finish based on its likeness to &#8220;Suetomi blue&#8221; \u2013 the company&#8217;s corporate colour for over seventy years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2364\" height=\"1577\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suetomi&#8217;s flagship store is located just three minutes away on foot, so we wanted the whole stand to function as a signboard with the distinctive colour, leading in brown copper along the front and blue copper where it faces the intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img colour was used in two areas: the eye-catching side facing the intersection, as well as in the resting area. Cityscape regulations control the use of facade colours except for on natural materials &#8211; the use of colours was here permitted as it was not painted but was created by the oxidation of copper.<\/p>\n<cite>Ryohei Tanaka<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The copper was oxidised by first applying soy sauce to turn it a darker, reddish-brown colour, followed by ammonium chloride to turn it a distinctive blue-green shade.
