This is a minimalist series of furniture by the collectible design brand, MONO Editions in partnership with fellow Paris-based design practice, Corpus Studio. Platane is MONO Edition’s first collection since 2022 and furthers the brand’s mission of creating furnishings made out of a single material.
Consisting of tables, seats, and lighting, Platane explores the principle of modularity. Each piece is made using panels of plane wood, or “bois de platane”, a quintessentially French material whose trees can be found lining the streets of Paris. The panels, each characterized by soft curves, come together to create dynamic shapes — one panel is stacked over two others to create the Platane Coffee Table, while stacks of straight planes are placed above a curved arch for a version of the Platane Lamp.
The overall collection, at once, simple and refined, is the perfect blending of MONO Edition’s focus on materiality and Corpus Studio’s mission of creating designs with quality craftsmanship, durability, and use in mind.
