Huy Hoang Lock Co., Ltd. stands as a leading manufacturer of locks in Vietnam, specializing in producing high-quality locking solutions. Located in the Quang Minh Industrial Zone, the Huy Hoang Lock Factor was designed by Baumschlager Eberle Architekten, spans three hectares and is situated approximately 20 km from Hanoi.
The factory complex comprises three distinct buildings, with two dedicated to manufacturing operations utilizing advanced German technology, and the third implementing cutting-edge Italian technology, all interconnected with a versatile multi-purpose building at the front.
The third building of the factory has been conceived as a symbol of innovation and sustainable development, reflecting Huy Hoang’s 40 years of growth and progress in the industry. The design intention aims not only for Gold LEED certification for building construction but also for Gold LEED operations in its manufacturing processes. This commitment demonstrates Huy Hoang’s dedication to environmentally friendly practices and modern industrial standards.
To create a spacious and functional interior, the factory employs a Core and Shell structural design. The building is tailored to the humid tropical climate of Northern Vietnam, characterized by hot summers, heavy rainfall, and cold winters with limited precipitation. To address these climatic challenges, the building features a facade system consisting of concrete lam elements, skillfully designed with varying densities and opening angles.
For instance, the south and southeast facades feature lam openings extended to 90 degrees to maximize sunlight and airflow. In contrast, the northern facade employs openings greater than 90 degrees and a higher density to mitigate cold winter winds. Meanwhile, the western facade incorporates sharp opening angles and maximum lam density to minimize thermal radiation.
The overall design philosophy prioritizes public space, creating an open campus environment within the factory complex. The operational building includes exhibition areas, training spaces, and offices, designed with open layouts to foster collaboration and accessibility.
The main hall serves as a museum, allowing visitors to engage with artifacts and learn about the company’s historical development. The space also offers a gallery showcasing the intricate processes behind the production of Huy Hoang’s products. Additionally, a restaurant and canteen—designed to serve guests, factory workers, and office staff—benefit from natural light filtration through the innovative facade system.
In conclusion, the Huy Hoang Lock Factory represents a forward-thinking architectural project focused on community service and user experience. With its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the well-being of its occupants, this factory is designed to withstand the test of time and serve as a benchmark for future industrial developments.
