The Vừ ancient house

Located in Dong Van town (Ha Giang province), The Vừ Villa has been passed on for 7 generations. There is little concrete information about the date when it was built or the origin of it; people in the family shared that they have been here ever since they were born.

This villa is built on an upper land overlooking the valley, the trail to the place is made of soil and rock, accompanied with mountains on both sides. It was built by a group of Hoa Nam people (Chinese), which gives the house a cross-culture architecture of Mong ethnic (Vietnam) and Hoa Nam people (Chinese). The villa consists of 3 houses: two on both sides and the front main house in the centre which was built higher than the rest. The floors were made of large pieces of local rock, the upper parts were built with thick walls and painted with white caustic lime. It stand-outs from afar with its influential appearance.

Overall, we can confidently say that the owner of the house was once an influential person and had a close relationship with King Meo – Vuong Chinh Duc. However, it is currently unknown about the exact origin of the Vu. The Vu family members mostly don’t speak Kinh (national language) as well as cannot give out precise information about the house. All they know is that the were born in the Vu family and inherit this precious house.
