In Cambodia, architect Vann Molyvann (1926 – 2017) is highly respected by the people, not any less than royalty. This is our observation based on interactions and conversations with intellectuals, artists, and citizens during visits to the remaining architectural works of the man considered the father of New Khmer Architecture.

The film “The Man Who Built Cambodian”, directed by Christopher Rompré, produced, and first released in 2015, takes us back to the 20th century, specifically the period when Vann Molyvann and his colleagues embarked on the task of rebuilding and reconstructing the country after Cambodia regained independence from French rule.
