Thánh Gióng workspace

Situated in district 7 – Hồ Chí Minh city, Thánh Gióng office is a workspace for designers and craftsmen specialised in Bamboo work in Vietnam.

The short-term leased area requires the DD Concept to come up with a saving, quick-building solution that ensure the post-using dismantlement to give back its original state, at the same time to minimise any contagion to the environment. Hanging structure is constructed by 1.2 metre iron and steel modular frames to withstand pressure and also play the role in furniture such as display areas, woking desks and bookshelves.

The west-facing bamboo facade is hand-woven by local craftsmen, giving the office its privacy. The tilted roof system is made of Vọt leaves (a local plant) with a two-layer structure and hollow inside. Flippable windows are arranged on every floor to ensure horizontal and vertical convection. The architects’ design solutions create thermal insulation, natural ventilation, dust protection and noise reduction.

We want to create a space that adapts to the context, creating a pleasant feeling for users, and saving energy during the operation of the construction.

DD Concept

The ground floor has a garden, a reception hall, a workshop and ancillary spaces. The courtyard and corridor transit between the inside and outside. The second and attic floors are all about the working space, the combination of natural materials like wood and bamboo with industrial factors such as iron plates, steel, conrrugated iron and glass erase the boundaries of the old and ne, the tradition and modern.

The void on the roof floor is a space to contemplate the nuances of nature in different hours of the day and seasons of the year. White is the main colour of the space that encourages creativity and design.
