Since 2012 Danish architect Anne Dorthe Vester and designer Maria Bruun, co-founders of MBADV Studio, has collaborated in creating objects in the cross-section between architecture, design and art. Their work often focuses on abstractions, like idioms, functional hybrids, and on the aesthetics of materials and form in relation to surrounding spaces – all created with an intense focus on the crafted detail.
The minimal ‘Wedge’ chairs are designed by architect Anne Dorthe Vester and made for the Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition in 2022, Copenhagen. The design is based on the relationship between industrial production and craftsmanship. By incorporating handcrafted, wedge-shaped backrests that seamlessly fit into industrially manufactured frames made of bent metal plates, it becomes possible to combine industrial precision with the unique imperfections created by the human touch.
