The Dune Coffee Table is the latest sculptural offering from Italian architect and designer, Pietro Franceschini. Furthering the flare of Franceschini’s illusory furnishings, the table appears to bloom outward from a central void.
Executing such a form required considerable engineering. Although it may appear to be fashioned from carved wood, the table is made of neucron, a complex composite material. The bending geometry was designed digitally and machine-cut using a robot arm. To portray the aesthetic of wood, knots and all, the table is meticulously hand painted, making each piece one of a kind.
The result is an elegant and eye-catching centerpiece that capitalizes upon the beauty of organic forms and textures.
